Japanese Tea House

“When I drink tea I am conscious of peace. The cool breath of heaven rises in my sleeves and blows my cares away”. – Lo Tung

The art and culture of the Japanese Tea Ceremony

“There is something in the nature of tea that leads us into a world of quiet contemplation of life.” – Lin Yutang

Japan is known worldwide for its traditional arts; from which Heather at Qii House draws much inspiration. One of them is the Japanese Tea Ceremony or way of tea, a cultural activity which involves the ceremonial presentation of powdered green tea or “matcha.”

The Japanese Tea Ceremony represents harmony, respect, purity and tranquillity which we must embrace in order to achieve the main purpose of the tea ceremony. Zen Buddhism is the primary influence in the conceptualization of the Tea ceremony.

A temple like sanctuary

The Qii Tea House is a garden room elevated into a rainforest setting. It is a temple like sanctuary. Here the simple art of green tea drinking is not an ego driven gathering, but rather, a portal to contemplation, inner peace, and heart centred connection.

A perfect way to relax and to detox after a ” Forest Bathing “ session along the INFTA accredited “Zaborin Walk”. Or an ideal potion whilst in the outdoor hot tub.

What Tea Represents

“A cup of tea is an excuse to share great thoughts with great minds” – Cristina Re

Tea represents harmony, peace, spiritual enlightenment, spiritual awakening, spiritual connection, rejuvenation, refreshment, change and contentment. The moment you sip hot tea, you feel satisfied, you detox and you feel an instant stress release. Dreaming of drinking hot ginger tea is thought to imbue happiness and good fortune. It is also strong in antioxidants and some health benefits include reducing inflammation, boosting immunity and calming properties which relieve stress and tension.
